At Pelan Pelan we like to think we offer a touch more luxury than dorms in many other surf retreats, so you won’t be compromising on luxury during your stay. The solo traveler shared room located just behind the swimming pool and common area which makes it perfect for mingling with your new Bali buddies.

Our surf retreat in Bali is family run. We hope our staff will be your family away from home and you will also have the opportunity to connect with other travellers. Our common area is great for mingling over delicious breakfast and healthy Indonesian home-cooking style lunch. You can also buy fresh juices, as well as beer and wine from our kitchen.

Travel is a great way to connect with other like-minded solo travellers and the Pelan Pelan Surf Retreat in Bali is a great place to do that. You may form friendships with some life long surf buddies! Our two rescue dogs Angel and Tyson are also great companies, they are always cruising around Pelan Pelan looking for treats and scratches from our guests! The solo traveller single rooms are located at the upper level of the Retreat.

The grassy riverside area is also open to you, it’s the perfect spot to chill out, read a book, meditate or take in the natural vista and listen to the river rush by. You can also use the yoga shala outside of class times to practice yoga or stretch your tired muscles. Our riverside spa is also available for some serious relaxation with treatments like Balinese massage, surfer’s massage, creme bath, manicure, pedicure and more on offer. You can also explore the surrounding areas by pushbike or scooter, Pelan Pelan is located in the middle of rice fields so you will want to take your camera.

I can not be more delighted by my stay at Pelan Pelan. It is one of those secrets that’s so good you hesitate before sharing because you’d like to keep it to yourself. But we are better persons after a week at Pelan Pelan so I will share. Countless reviews have proven the point on how great the retreat facilities are, the food is healthy, gorgeous and not boring, surf classes are very well delivered ( I was riding waves I never thought I would, I was scared sometimes but absolutely kept safe by my coaches Putu and Reno), yoga and massages ( especially facial) were a total treat. The entire staff is treated as family by Emma and treats guests as family in return. The extra point I would like to highlight is the amazing people I met during my week at Pelan Pelan. We were no more than 15 guests, so the group is small enough to get to know everyone. Meals are taken together in the patio by the pool. Everyone was so welcoming, kind, non-judgmental and warm, we had great conversations and I recharged mentally so much by sharing life stories with everyone. Guests were in their 20s or their 50s, extremely diverse in their occupations and life stages and instead of setting us appart, it enriched our conversations. We had really good fun hanging out at the beach, around the pool or out in the evenings. Kudos to Pelan Pelan for creating such a kind and generous heaven. Keep going and I’ll definitely return!

That was honestly really, really good!

Came to this place very tired, but left this place with so much energie! Been here for two weeks, but could stay forever. I can confirm that all the good reviews are really true. It is amazing and ALL the staff make it possible to make this place to a cozy, family-feeling, relaxing place. I had so much fun while surfing with Alit, my surfinstructor. He learned me a lot and I felt safe and seen all the time! Thanks for all the good food, so surprisingly delicious every single day. Looked forward to my massages, because they were amazing! Always left the place with a good feeling. First time ever that I tried yoga, and i am not flexible at all, but that didnt matter. I got the purpose and loved it after all! I enjoyed walking to the garden, which they care for with a lot of love. Thanks to the housekeeping for the clean room every single day! Last but not least: thanks for the good and fun times Lely and Lode! You’re amazing woman (and receptionists) and as you know: i loved listening to your singing during your work. Thanks for all the little concerts! Had really good, nice and fun times with all the other guests i met. Everyone was so friendly, open and easy to communicate with. We had the best days while talking but also hanging around with each other when everyone did what they wanted: reading, listening to music, swimming, writing, sleeping etc. In case i forget someone: thanks you for making my holiday! I will never forget!

Can not wait to go back already!!

My friend and I stayed at this.beyonf beautiful resort for 8 nights/9 days. Every need was met and if there was anything extra you needed the entire staff made sure it happened. Whether it was extra surf lessons, extra meals or rides into town they accommodated it all. The resort was relaxing and felt like home, the entire stay felt like we were staying with family, especially the dogs Marco and Tyson! The rooms were clean and super comfortable, the meals were delicious ( they accommodate all diets and restrictions). We can not wait to go back and stay longer with our Pelan Pelan family!!

Surfing Paradise nestled in picturesque rice paddies. Wife raves about the yoga and massages too.

Incredible place to stay with incredible staff. Beyond friendly and extremely accommodating staff. Kids loved dadi and comma (I’m sure that’s not how you spell it!). They were super patient with my 9 year old daughter and my teenagers loved them, they were all surfing pretty well after only 5 days! Emma and her husband are amazing hosts and trickles right down through all the staff, they have a genuine affection for their guests. I know all my reviews have been glowing but honestly we have hit a purple patch lately with all our holidays being amazing! We are already planning our next pelan pelan holiday! Perfect combo of activity and relaxation

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. The retreat is lovely, food is delicious and the surf instructors were so helpful and great teachers. The staff were so kind and helpful. The spa was also incredible. Would highly recommend spending the week here.
